The series
Six canvases, none smaller than two metres. Each began on a flight and finished months later in the studio, chasing a light I could only half-remember.

I stopped trying to paint the clouds and started painting the gap between them and the ground.
That shift — from the subject to the space around it — is the whole series in a sentence. Everything after the second canvas follows from it.
